Lufthansa Group continues the established offering under a new name

More than five million passengers have booked Green Fares to date

The Lufthansa Group is renaming its Green Fare to Impact Fare. The new name places even stronger emphasis on customers' contribution to greater sustainability in aviation and thus reflects new regulatory requirements for environmental communication: By choosing an Impact Fare, passengers support the additional use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) across the Lufthansa Group's route network. In addition, they contribute to selected climate protection projects outside the company's value chain. Depending on the project, these aim to avoid or remove CO₂. Customers can book the Impact Fare with Lufthansa Group airlines in all travel classes.

How the Impact Fare worksFor every Impact Fare booking, the Lufthansa Group deploys an additional amount of SAF in its flight operations within six months of departure. For flights within Europe, this volume is based on 20 percent of the estimated flight-related CO₂ emissions. The fare also supports climate protection projects. The amount of the contribution is based on the remaining 80 percent of the estimated flight-related CO₂ emissions. On intercontinental routes, the ratio is 10 to 90 percent. In addition, passengers receive additional Miles and Points. Depending on the booking class and destination, the Impact Fare also includes more flexible or fee-free rebooking options.

More than five million Green Fare passengers to dateThe Green Fare was introduced in 2023 and has since successfully established itself as an offering. More than five million passengers have booked the fare to date. The Lufthansa Group pursues five approaches to lower-emission aviation: the modernization of its fleet, measures to increase fuel efficiency, the use of SAF, the expansion of intermodality and diverse offerings for private and corporate customers who wish to support additional measures in the area of sustainability. In addition, the company has been engaged in global climate and weather research for more than 30 years.
